Director of Communications and Member Engagement 

The Talent Set are delighted to be partnering with the Royal College of Midwives to appoint their new Director of Communications and Member Engagement. This influential position plays a pivotal part in shaping and delivering the organisation’s strategic communications, fostering robust member engagement, and enhancing their reputation across diverse audiences. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop and deliver an integrated communications and member engagement strategy aligned to organisational goals.  

  • Lead and develop the communications team to achieve strategic priorities.  

  • Advise senior leadership on communications strategy, risk, and reputation management.  

  • Oversee creation and delivery of engaging multi-channel content.  

  • Build and manage relationships with media, stakeholders, and partners.  

  • Maintain brand consistency and oversee visual identity.  

  • Monitor trends and drive innovative communication approaches.  

  • Support organisational initiatives through strategic communications and project leadership.  

  • Provide media training and act as organisational spokesperson.  

  • Ensure compliance with data protection and communication standards. 

Person Specification 

  • Proven experience designing and implementing strategic communication and engagement programmes, ideally within a healthcare membership environment. 

  • Strong background in media relations, digital content, and multi-channel campaigns. 

  • Experience in team leadership, coaching, and stakeholder management at senior levels. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex messages. 

  • Skilled in brand development and visual identity management. 

  • Ability to influence, collaborate, and build consensus across diverse groups. 

  • Commercial awareness and political acumen to operate effectively within complex environments.
