The Talent Set are thrilled to partner with a mission-driven children’s hospice to recruit a passionate and proactive Community Engagement Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious team and help grow the Community Giving Program, building strong relationships with local organisations, driving donor acquisition and retention, and identifying new opportunities for growth. We’re seeking a solutions-focused and collaborative individual, with proven experience of meeting financial targets and developing long-term partnerships. Experience in the charity sector and using CRM databases is desirable. A full UK driving licence is required, along with flexibility to travel across our catchment area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Grow community fundraising by building strong external networks, engaging new local partners, and promoting events and the Regular Giving Program to increase support.
- Plan and deliver community activities including bucket collections, charity stalls, stewardship events, and securing local grants and appeals.
- Provide excellent supporter care, serving as the main point of contact for community organisations and developing tailored stewardship journeys that maximise retention, engagement, and giving.
- Manage and support Volunteer Ambassadors, empowering them to represent the charity and extend its reach across the community.
- Maintain accurate data and insights within the CRM, ensuring supporter records, income, and preferences are tracked in line with GDPR and best practice.
- Represent the charity with impact, confidently speaking at events and meetings to inspire audiences of all backgrounds and champion the hospice’s mission.
- Work collaboratively across the charity, upholding fundraising regulations and internal policies, supporting colleagues when needed, and contributing to a culture of learning, inclusivity, and continuous improvement.
Person Specification:
- Proven track record of meeting financial targets, developing long-term partnerships, and ideally experience within the charity sector or managing volunteers.
- Excellent communication and networking skills, with confidence in public speaking, presenting, and engaging a wide range of stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and project management abilities, with attention to detail and proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience using a CRM database is desirable.
- Personable, empathetic, and collaborative, with the ability to build relationships, maintain supporter loyalty, and represent the charity with impact.
- Driven, strategic, and values-led, reflecting kindness, courage, and excellence in approach, while maintaining professionalism and safeguarding responsibilities.
- Holds a valid UK driving licence, willing to travel across the catchment area, and flexible to work occasional evenings and weekends.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and maintain accurate records, experience with Raiser's Edge is a plus.
