Role Overview
The Talent Set are delighted to partner with their client on a fantastic Head of Communications role. The successful candidate will lead strategic planning, manage a small communications team, and serve as the primary voice for the organisation’s senior leadership, fostering engagement and raising awareness through impactful messaging.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive communications plans aligned with organisational goals.
- Manage and support the communications team, providing guidance and oversight.
- Serve as the key liaison on communications matters to the CEO and Senior Leadership Team.
- Produce high-quality written content including press releases, newsletters, and reports.
- Oversee media engagement, public relations, and community outreach initiatives.
- Lead on brand development, ensuring consistent messaging and visual identity.
- Prepare and present reports, including board papers, risk assessments, and impact narratives.
- Manage the communications budget and establish annual plans to maximise reach and engagement.
- Develop and maintain a content calendar, including story and content banking, to ensure vibrant and ongoing communication flow.
- Handle crisis communication management and risk assessments as required.
- Stay proactively involved in shaping the organisation’s communication strategy and initiatives.
Person Specification
- Proven experience in strategic communications roles, ideally within the non-profit or health sectors.
- Excellent writing and storytelling skills, with an ex-journalist or similar background preferred.
- Well-organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outputs.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a team and work autonomously with confidence.
- Strong planning and organisational skills, including budget management.
- Ability to develop innovative content strategies and maintain a vibrant, engaging content flow.
- Good understanding of brand management, reputation, and crisis communications.
- Confident in engaging with media, stakeholders, and the public at all levels.
- Entrepreneurial spirit with initiative and a proactive approach.
- Highly adaptable with excellent attention to detail and stakeholder management skills.
What’s on Offer
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000
