Interim Director of Communications and Marketing
The Talent Set is delighted to partner with a fantastic public sector client looking for their next Interim Director of Communications and Marketing. This high-level position offers an opportunity to shape and lead strategic communications, branding, and stakeholder engagement within a dynamic, public-sector-adjacent organisation navigating a period of transformation and growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, oversee, and implement an integrated corporate marketing, communications, and public affairs strategy aligned with organisational goals.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team, fostering collaboration, high performance, and professional development.
- Provide strategic guidance across marketing channels, external stakeholder engagement, and internal communications to enhance reputation and influence.
- Drive brand evolution to ensure relevance, consistency, and impactful external positioning.
- Manage audience data governance, analysing insights to optimise engagement activities and campaign effectiveness.
- Support event strategy, ensuring successful delivery of high-quality internal and external engagements, including sponsorship development.
- Advise on media engagement, thought leadership, and content strategy to raise organisational profile and credibility.
- Build relationships with government, regulators, and partners to support organisational objectives.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and the Board on strategic planning, governance, and performance reporting.
- Manage departmental budgets, ensuring value for money and alignment with organisational priorities.
Person Specification
- Extensive experience in B2B and public-sector-facing marketing, with proven success in multi-channel campaigns supporting growth and reputation.
- Lead generation marketing experience
- Demonstrated senior leadership of diverse teams with a focus on performance, mentoring, and development.
- Skilled at stakeholder relationship management, influencing senior leaders, and navigating complex, public-sector environments.
- Strong understanding of service marketing, consultancy, or innovation-led offerings, with the ability to articulate compelling value propositions.
- Financial and budgeting acumen, with experience optimising campaign ROI.
- Ability to lead change initiatives, foster innovation, and operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving setting.
- Experience working with government or civil service audiences is desirable.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and inclusive approach.
What’s on Offer
Salary: Circa £100k (pro rata)
Length: 6-9 months
2 days a week in the office Central London.
