The Talent Set is delighted to be partnering with a global animal welfare charity that reveals suffering, rescues and protects animals. The charity’s vision is for a world where humans treat animals with respect, empathy and understanding. Their projects focus on companion animals including stray dogs and cats, farm animals and wild animals – such as bears, big cats, orangutans and elephants – kept in inappropriate conditions as well as in disaster and conflict zones.
The postholder will lead on developing income streams across high value funders including major donors, trusts, foundations and corporate partners. The Major Donor Fundraiser will develop and lead on the implementation of a strategic programme that focuses on building a sustainable pipeline, increasing revenue and delivering excellent stewardship journeys to establish effective relationships with donors.
We are seeking an experienced philanthropy fundraiser who can demonstrate success in developing a major gifts programme that takes a relationship focused approach. You will be a natural and confident communicator that is keen to network with donors and prospects to solicit gifts and uplift existing support.
The Role:
Steward a portfolio of existing donors and funders giving at the 4 and 5-figure level
Research and build the pipeline to generate opportunities across HNWIs, trusts, foundations and corporate partners
Develop a strategy that focuses on increasing supporter numbers and income
Devise and implement stewardship plans to establish long-term, meaningful relationships with donors
Write compelling funding proposals and applications for trusts and foundations
Work closely with the individual giving team to uplift mid-value supporters
Work closely with international colleagues to develop compelling cases for support, write tailored funding applications and obtain necessary project and budget information
Responsible for setting and monitoring income and expenditure budgets, reporting on these monthly to the Head of Fundraising
About You:
An experienced philanthropy fundraiser with a track record of managing relationships and securing 5-figure+ gifts, particularly with HNWIs
Demonstrable experience of developing a major gifts programme
Excellent communication skills, and ability to engage with senior internal and external stakeholders confidently
Solid understanding of effective stewardship journeys and can demonstrate delivery of donor engagement plans
Experience using a database for effective donor and financial management, experience of Raisers Edge is beneficial
Proactive, positive and a team player
