About Us Our Future is a growing organisation working to put communities in control of their town's future. We support local people to shape a shared vision, drive change from the ground up, and unlock long-term funding while influencing national policy to better support community-led change. Having started in Grimsby and expanded to Rochdale, we're now building a national movement.
In Grimsby, we're currently delivering the Growing Together Fund, a new, permanent and independent community fund designed to back local ambition, support practical ideas, and attract long-term investment into the town. This work forms part of a wider ambition to ensure local people have a stronger voice in shaping Grimsby's future.
The Role As Place Associate, you'll play a vital role in supporting the delivery of Our Future's work across Grimsby. Working closely with the Place Lead, you'll help turn plans into action by building relationships, organising events, supporting communications and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of local activity. This is a hands-on, community-facing position for someone who is passionate about Grimsby and excited by the opportunity to contribute to lasting local change. You'll be a visible and trusted presence across the town, helping to connect people, build momentum and strengthen participation in Our Future's work.
Key Responsibilities
Build relationships with residents, community groups, local organisations and partners across Grimsby
Attend events and activities, acting as a visible representative of Our Future within the town
Organise and coordinate local events, managing logistics, venues, suppliers and attendee communications
Support the delivery of engaging activities that build trust, participation and shared purpose
Create and coordinate local communications, including social media content, newsletters and community updates
Work alongside colleagues and local storytellers to capture and share stories from the community
Provide administrative support including scheduling, record keeping and maintaining local databases
Support wider delivery of Our Future's plans across North East Lincolnshire as required
Experience & Skills You may have gained experience in community engagement, events, administration, customer service or a similar environment. Most importantly, you'll bring enthusiasm, strong people skills and a genuine commitment to Grimsby and its future.
