Senior Media Officer
Role Overview
The Talent Set are delighted to partner with our client on a fantastic Senior Media Officer role. This position involves managing reactive media queries, developing proactive media campaigns, and nurturing relationships with journalists to raise awareness of organisational initiatives and insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing daily media enquiries, responding promptly, and drafting accurate reactive statements.
- Monitoring news outlets to identify emerging stories, risks, and opportunities.
- Developing and delivering proactive media campaigns aligned with organisational goals.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with journalists, producers, and editors across various media platforms.
- Supporting media spokesperson preparation through briefing materials, key messages, and training.
- Assisting in the review and development of a strategic media plan by analysing current activities and identifying growth opportunities.
- Providing copywriting and editing support for social media, newsletters, and other communication channels.
- Ensuring all media activities comply with organisational policies and relevant legislation.
- Collaborating across teams to turn organisational data and insights into compelling stories.
- Flexibly undertaking additional communication duties as required by the organisation.
Person Specification
- Excellent media relations skills, confident in handling enquiries and pitching stories.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading abilities, producing engaging content in various formats.
- Sound news judgement, able to identify risks, opportunities, and compelling story angles.
- Effective planning and organisational skills, capable of managing multiple deadlines.
- Wide understanding of the UK media landscape, including digital, broadcast, and print sectors.
- Knowledge of issues related to social inequality, poverty, welfare, or social security.
- Experience working with journalists, creating press materials, and securing media coverage.
- Familiarity with emerging media platforms such as podcasts and social media.
- Collaborative, responsible, and attentive to detail, with a calm approach under pressure.

Salary: £138.34 basic pay + £20.75 holiday - daily rate
4 month interim contract
